indigenous industry

فارسی

1 عمومی:: صنعت داخلی

This section discusses four recent applications of the SKIN model: (1) modeling the impact of university links for business innovation networks, (2) scenario modeling of an individual case from Ireland, demonstrating an MNC-directed innovation policy for indigenous industry networks, (3) simulating the effects of different innovation management strategies of firms in the biotechnology-based pharmaceutical industry, and (4) scenario modeling of European funding schemes based on size and geographical diversity of project teams. The simulation was grounded in the empirical example of Ireland, enabling us to analyze the role of MNCs in the Irish indigenous industry. To prevent MNCs from leaving Ireland to relocate in more competitive manufacturing locations and to help the indigenous industry benefit from MNCs, Irish policy makers attempt to convince MNCs to locate their R&D in Ireland and cooperate with Irish organizations (SMEs, universities, etc.) in innovation networks. Second, we compared a model containing MNC agents that conducted R&D in cooperation with the indigenous industry to a model where MNCs follow a go-it-alone innovation strategy, while all other firms in that scenario cooperate with each other. Attracting and retaining MNCs does result in increased capital availability and innovation performance for the indigenous industry.
